Fall is, arguably, our best season here in McCall. The colors are spectacular. The options for adventure are endless. And, the cool nights are a promise of all the fun to come this winter.
It's also Ski Film Trailer Season – that magical time of year when everyone from McCall Life to Teton Gravity Research starts dropping trailers to promote their season edits. My inbox (and probably yours) has been filled with links to these short, dreamy segments that make me look twice at the special offers being texted and emailed from all my favorite brands. They lead to weird daydreams — the ones that find me on the top of some remote peak in Alaska or the Canadian backcountry, looking over the edge at an impossible line and thinking to myself, Dang, I'm going to need ski crampons and an ice axe for this winter's adventures.
Then, of course, I wake up. I look in the mirror. I realize I'm 53 and no longer qualified to shoot down a narrow, 50-degree couloir (and, if I was, my wife would forbid it anyway). I go back to looking at new goggles (or Heli-ski trips) 😄.
To help you get stoked for the season, here are links to some of the best ski trailers I've seen so far this year. And, after watching them, if you feel the need to buy some crampons or a harness or an ice axe, I say do it.
